Creating clarity, giving people a voice and appropriate autonomy, and building trust and fairness can reduce unnecessary threat, and the SCARF model provides the framework for this. Psychological safety doesn’t remove accountability. It creates healthier conditions for people to speak up, take ownership and perform at their best.

The most persuasive leaders resist the urge to defend themselves, look beyond the first objection and focus on understanding before trying to influence.
