Let it go! 🎈
Be honest.
What are you currently carrying that feels heavier than it should?
- A conversation that didn’t go well…
- A decision you keep second-guessing…
- An expectation that hasn’t been met…
- Or a situation you simply cannot control…
As leaders, we often pride ourselves on holding it all together. But sometimes, what we hold on to… is exactly what is holding us back.
What if the pressure you feel is not just coming from what’s happening, but from what you are choosing to carry?
Letting go is not giving up. It is choosing where your energy is best invested.
Let go of what you can’t control, and focus on what you can create. — Roy T. Bennett
Leadership is not just about doing more.
It is also about releasing what no longer serves you.
Too often, we try to hold on to everything, believing that this will give us certainty, stability, or better outcomes. Yet in doing so, we can create unnecessary pressure, cloud our thinking, and drain our energy. When we begin to release what is outside our control, we free up space to focus on what we can influence. And that is where clarity, confidence, and effective leadership truly begin. 👇
Letting go to regain control
One of the biggest misconceptions in leadership is this: “If I just try harder, think longer, or push more… I’ll regain control.” In reality, the opposite is often true.
The more we try to control everything, the more pressure we create for ourselves. The more we hold on to frustration, expectations, or outcomes, the less clarity we have. And over time, this builds into mental noise. It drains our energy, impacts our decision-making, and can even affect how we show up for others.
True control does not come from gripping tighter. It comes from understanding what is yours to carry… and what is not. There is a powerful shift that happens when you pause and ask: “Is this actually within my control?” Because not everything is.
Some things are yours to act on. Some things are yours to influence. And some things are simply not yours to hold on to. When you start making this distinction, everything changes. You stop reacting to everything around you. You start responding with intention. You stop carrying unnecessary weight. You start creating space for clarity and focus. When you let go of what is outside your control, you create space for what truly matters.
When leaders apply this, they experience:
- clearer thinking and better decision-making
- emotional balance under pressure
- stronger focus on priorities
- improved communication and relationships
- more sustainable energy and wellbeing

Letting go is not passive. It is a conscious leadership decision. It is choosing to direct your time, energy, and attention where it will have the greatest impact.
Reflection
“What am I currently holding on to that is no longer serving me? What would change if I chose to release it?”
Support that meets you where you are
Leadership can feel heavy at times. Not because you are doing something wrong, but because you are carrying more than you need to.
Here are a few practical ways to start letting go and regaining control.
The 60-second let-it-go reset
Feeling mentally stuck or emotionally loaded?
Try this simple 60-second reset:
- Notice the tension – What is currently on your mind?
- Separate control – Is this within your control, influence or neither?
- Release intentionally – If it is outside your control, consciously choose to let it go.
Often, stress is not created by the situation itself, but by our attachment to it.
